What is INTERNET SLANG?

Internet slang is a non-standard or unofficial form of language used by people on the Internet to communicate to one another.

EXAMPLES:

  1. BC
    Meaning: because

Example: “I’m gonna stay home today bc I’m not feeling great.”

  1. BRB
    Meaning: be right back

Example: “Brb, i gotta eat.”

  1. BTW
    Meaning: by the way

Example: “Oh, btw, Single ka?”

  1. DM
    Meaning: direct message (can be a noun or a verb)

Examples: “I heard she slid into his DMs.”

  1. IYKYK
    Meaning: if you know, you know (referring to experiences or jokes only shared by certain people)

Example: “MISS KO NA SIYA. #iykyk

  1. NGL
    Meaning: not gonna lie

Example: “NGL, nasunog ko ung bahay namin.”

  1. TBH
    Meaning: to be honest

Example: “TBH, miss na kita :(.”

  1. Stan
    Meaning: fierce supporter, huge fan (usually applies to celebrities; can be a noun or a verb)

Examples: “I stan twice.”

  1. Ghost
    Meaning: deliberately ignore, refuse to respond (usually through texts or social media)

Example: “Kala ko may chance na Ghost tuloy ako.”

  1. GOAT
    Meaning: greatest of all time (technically an acronym, but spoken and written like the regular word)

Example: “MJ THE GOAT.”
